State law now requires age-appropriate firearm safety instruction for students from Kindergarten through 12th Grade, starting in the 2025-2026 school year.  CVLA will be providing this instruction during regular class meetings on September 17 and 18 with age-appropriate content for every grade. The instruction is developed with the TN Department of Education, the Department of Safety and Homeland Security, and TWRA, and focuses on firearm safety and responsibility, demonstrating a mature attitude regarding firearms, and knowing the proper storage of firearms and ammunition in the home. It will be delivered in a viewpoint-neutral way, using no live-fire activities.

Jamie Ensley, from the Ayers Foundation, will be meeting with the seniors on Thursday, January 15. (It will only take the first hour, if that, so you will be attending your regular classes as well.) He will have important information for you, and he doesn't visit often, so please be sure to attend!
