State law now requires age-appropriate firearm safety instruction for students from Kindergarten through 12th Grade, starting in the 2025-2026 school year.  CVLA will be providing this instruction during regular class meetings on September 17 and 18 with age-appropriate content for every grade. The instruction is developed with the TN Department of Education, the Department of Safety and Homeland Security, and TWRA, and focuses on firearm safety and responsibility, demonstrating a mature attitude regarding firearms, and knowing the proper storage of firearms and ammunition in the home. It will be delivered in a viewpoint-neutral way, using no live-fire activities.
